Having worked at Camp Stanislaus for nearly nine years, I have been approached several times with the question: “Why should we send our children to summer camp?” To me, camp is a special place where kids are allowed to be themselves, make friends, and have fun, free from some of the distractions and pressures of their normal routines.
Nestled in all that merriment are some valuable life lessons that help students prepare for life when they leave home—for college and beyond. I think this Huffington Post article does a great job explaining how important summer camps can be in a child’s life and how they offer more than just a place to send your child on summer break.
