A Typical Day of Fun at Camp Stanislaus

When someone asks what a typical day is like at Camp Stanislaus, my answer is always “non-stop fun.” We are a centralized camp which means every day is planned out.  We feel that this gives our campers the best opportunity to try activities that they may not have tried otherwise.  Every day campers enjoy two long activity sessions and an elective period. Resident campers, because they sleep on campus, also get a third but shorter activity session.  During our long activity sessions, depending on the day’s menu of fun, campers rotate through a merry-go-round of activities: Water Skiing, Sailing, Fishing, Archery, Arts and Hobbies, Canoeing, Rec Hall and a variety of gym/field sports.  The longer sessions give the campers time to perfect the techniques of some of our big activities like water skiing and sailing.

Every week day from 1:00 to 3:30 there are three forty-five-minute “elective” activities; campers pick from several choices.  Every Sunday (Monday morning for day campers), they are given an elective sheet and they rank the activities from 1st choice through 6th choice.  We do our best to give the campers the activities they want.  For variety’s sake, these activities change every summer. They include Marine Biology, Computers, Arts & Hobbies, Sports, Swimming and Weightlifting.

The short activity session is an hour and fifteen minutes long and is after dinner every weekday.  These activities may include; swimming, front beach, capture the flag, computer time, movie night, laser tag, sports and other various activities. During certain weeks, there is also a magic show and skit night during the short activity session. To keep the fun fresh, every summer we try new activities.  This year we’re bringing back canoeing.

There are also three meals and a snack time fit into the action-packed schedule.  At camp there’s not much down time and that’s just how we like it.  It gives campers more time to try new things and not miss home so much.  The expression “time flies when you’re having fun” couldn’t be more true at Camp Stanislaus because before you know it Camp is over and our campers are already looking forward to the next summer.

We’re really looking forward to Camp Stanislaus 2017. Don’t miss out on anything! We hope to see you here.
