Although I never had the good fortune of being a camper at Camp Stanislaus, over the past six years camp has grown to be a central part of my life. It started as just a summer job but has led to me working at St. Stanislaus year round. I’m sure many former campers and counselors would agree with the slogan “a lifetime of memories and friendships.” For me nothing could be truer. There are people I have met at camp who have become my best friends, and some even family. I would have a hard time imagining my life without Camp Stanislaus as a part of it.
Camp is a very special place to me. And it could be for you. I feel that it is a place where you can truly be yourself and not have to worry about being judged. You get to try new things and work as a team to accomplish goals which you could not accomplish by yourself. I have so many fun memories from camp like “The Czech Republic” winning the water Olympics, learning to slalom for the first time, and – no matter how tired I got—slinging the tykes we call “Shrimps” into the Bay during activities out by the pier.
These are memories I will hold on to for the rest of my life. They are memories that could only be created by camp and its people. Each and every person has a unique experience at Camp Stanislaus. Whether you come as a camper or as a counselor, I would have to say that as long as you give 100% I can’t see why you wouldn’t fall in love like I have with this place and these people called “Camp Stanislaus.”. I am 100% certain that without working that first summer at camp I would not have become the man I am today.
In a phrase, I love Camp. I’m looking forward to another memorable summer in 2017. Let’s get the fun started!
