The Summer Camp Experience

Skiing at Summer Camp

Summers are a time for adolescents to relax and unwind from the long school year, but we all know the summer can be busier than ever these days.  At Camp Stanislaus, we understand this, which is why we offer one week camp options.  Young boys and girls are able to fit camp into their busy schedules and enjoy all that camp has to offer.  The summer is a time where kids can learn about themselves and try new and exciting things, and what better place to do this then at camp.  Campers are able to experience activities such as sailing, skiing, and fishing all while improving interpersonal skills, forming new and meaningful friendships, and learning more about themselves.  This variety in activities is crucial in helping them grow into healthy adolescents and adults.

It is important for kids to take risks and challenge themselves, and camp is the perfect environment to do this safely.  Camp Stanislaus is a non-competitive environment, but that doesn’t mean we do not challenge our campers and provide result oriented events and activities.  Each and every camper has to challenge his or her self and work hard during activities to achieve their individual goals.  We understand that each camper starts at a different level, and our hope is that they leave camp with more knowledge and confidence than when they arrived.  Each activity offers unique benefits to our campers. For example:  waterskiing is challenging and helps campers focus and helps one’s determination, while sailing increases communication skills and sense of direction and Fishing teaches patience and appreciation of nature.  All of our activities, not just the ones mentioned above, build confidence and focus on life skills campers need to succeed later in life.  Child development professionals recognize camps as key to helping children to mature socially, emotionally, intellectually, morally, and physically. What makes it so easy for campers to build on these skills in such a short period of time is Camp Stanislaus’s judgment free environment.

Despite our wide variety of activities, the counselors are truly the people who make camp great! Camp Stanislaus is a place where kids will meet positive role models and have someone they can look up to.  Our counselors look after their campers and are there to assist in their growth.  They approach every day and every week of camp as one to create learning opportunities and new ways to bring out positive attributes in their campers. They understand their responsibility to assist each camper in his character growth and life skill development, which is why our rigorous training creates counselors who are good communicators, leaders, and self-starters.  A week at camp can change a camper’s life for the better, and many of our parents see a significant change in their child’s attitude and development.

Whether your child attends camp for only one week or is with us the entire summer, our goal is that they will leave us with more skills and confidence then when they arrived.  They may also have a new nickname and are sure to have memories and friendships that they will carry with them for life.  Hope to see you and your son or daughter at camp this summer!
